A beautiful day!

Vince has been busy editing videos and pulling some late nighters… So, to give him some quiet time, the children and I spent the early morning at Almaden Lake.  This time, rather than “merely”playing at the playground… we went for a nice walk along the trail.  My goal was to get the children motivated to walk by telling them there was a park at the end of the trail.  Well, there really was… we just never made it there!  Why?  Because, to the untrained eye, this was a boring, paved, bike trail.  However, to a 5 1/2 and a 3 1/2 year old … it was not a mere trail for them!  An adult would take this trail and be done within 45 minutes (and make it to the park and perhaps even back!)…  NOT us!  We took the scenic route and it took us 2 1/2  hours!  Along the way….

The enjoyed the view….

They climb rocks — of course! And jumped off … doesn’t everyone???

They used the exercise stations — which to them was a mobile playground!

Then Matthew found a nice tree to climb… the limb on the ground was easier….

Monkey #2

february-28-2009-almaden-trail-077Monkey #3 needed a bit of help!  His request?  “I too, I too!”

Big Sister to the rescue!

Oh well, he did hang on it quite a bit and had a blast!  I did not want to take the chance and drop him for a photo… So, you will not see the huge smile on his face as he hung on for dear life… and let go, as if he was tall enough to land on his feet!  Yikes, that child is just too brave!

So, here he is enjoying a quiet moment to himself… picking weeds!

The exercise station was not the only thing that slowed us down!  Morgan photographed some things along the way that she found interesting.  If you know the names of these plants, please let me know!  Until then, “these are pretty weeds,  mommy!”  Yup, that’s what she called them!
