9 years!

Last night (June 16) Vince came home with these 2 lovely bouquets of flowers:

Then during dinner we discussed with the children that we have known each other longer than we have been married… 20+ years!  Many of you already know that we were high school sweethearts… yep, THAT long ago!  We even knew of each other in elementary school!  Anyway, it was Spanish class that sealed the deal.  We were chosen by Senor Gil to introduce each other to our classmates…  It wasn’t love at first sight  though.  I was having issues, he was just enjoying life… didn’t think I would be so complicated when he started talking to me!  😉  He and I were polar opposites — I was loud and obnoxious, he was quiet and sweet.  So, we’re still the same now… BUT we cancel each other out better that way now.  And we see where our children have inherited our personalities!  I’m tellin’ ya, it was just fate that we met and eventually married… I can’t see myself being with anyone else!  Sounds so corny, but so true.

This evening, Wednesday, June 17, 2009, we went on a date… just the 2 of us!  Mom watched the children and we enjoyed a lovely dinner at the Crow’s Nest in Santa Cruz.  We enjoyed sitting outside on the patio while watching the boats sailing back to dock.

Appetizers:  Tomato Basil Crostini and Calamari  — yummy!

Vince’s view:

My view… not as open, but still nice…

As it got darker we enjoyed our appetizers — every last bit

then dinner arrived….we were full from appetizers, but we ate anyway! 😉

Vince ordered the halibut:

I had the sea bass:

(whoops, ate half my veggies and realized that I needed to take some photos!)

June-17,-2009-9-years-anniver-011Here’s proof that we were actually there  together — WITHOUT  3 children in tow!  🙂

June-17,-2009-9-years-anniver-014Here’s the yummy dessert in front of us… something with Kahula, chocolate cake, gelato, etc, etc….we ate every last crumb!  Whatever the name, it was just right!  🙂

We came home to 3 sleeping children…. 2 on the chairs and the last one in bed.  M&M insisted on waiting up for us… so Mom let them.  They fell asleep waiting!  Matthew kept asking when we would return.  According to mom, Morgan told him that he should just let us enjoy our dinner together and we would be home soon.  Mom always says that Morgan is so mature for her age — especially when we are not around.  That’s the older child in her — good thing she came first!  Can you imagine what it would be like if Matthew were oldest?!  YIKES!

I forgot to take a photo, but you can picture it — 2 small bodies each crammed into the chairs in the living room waiting for us… the first sight we saw when we opened the door.  They were so cute!  Mom said Ethan cried himself to sleep  in her arms… poor thing, not feeling well and then crying himself to sleep.  Poor mom… having to listen to him cry… sorry Mom!

What a wonderful anniversary it was — we’re hoping not to wait another year to go on another date.  As editing slows down, perhaps we can schedule a more regular date night… we’ll see!  The last time we went out was when I had just had Matthew… wow, that was a long time ago!  We still thank Christine and Tony for giving us an excuse to go on a date.  Thanks guys, we needed it!

  1. Wow! Has it been 9 years already? Congratulations and happy anniversary! Here’s to more happy years together. And maybe one more little Quach…or not! 🙂

    • Thanks Anita… yep, already nine years! And no, no more! 🙂

  2. Congratulations! So happy for you guys. When I first met you and Vince, I knew you were meant to be together.

    • Thanks Shauna! 🙂
