Discovery Meadows Pumpkins in the Park

Another year… and we are back on our traditional track of going to the pumpkin patch at Discovery Meadow.  As always, we took the light rail.  This, of course, is the children’s highlight of the event!  Here’s Morgan holding up her very own ticket!  Yes, we have to pay for her ride now… she’s getting too big, I tell ya!

This is going to be a pretty heavy picture post, so you might want to skip my ramblings and just look at the photos!

On the train:

First thing they see is this Shark fire engine… the boys, of course, wanted a closer lookie.  They were giving away trick or treat bags.

The nit was off to activities!  The first was from a gardening group.  They introduced the children to lady bugs by providing real lady bugs to hold and a hand held magnifying glass to view them up close.

Ethan LOVED this!

Then they were able to make their own ladybugs using red painted rocks!  What a great idea!

Although I have to admit, the marker wore off.. so I would have used permanent pen or paint.

The children wanted a quick snack…so we sat to watch some dancers.  Suddenly, Matthew turned to me and without a single word, pointed to somebody.  His eyes were wide and oh so happy!  SO we got comfortable…

Yup, Andy Z!  He was just setting up to perform next!

After dancing around, clapping, singing, and having a fabulous time with Andy Z, we finally enjoyed the pumpkin patch!

As tradition, M&M made their own piles of pumpkins for display… so the gathering began!

Every now and then, there was a small distraction…

And ever so helpful, Ethan found one… but he just couldn’t roll it to them!

So they walked around for awhile….we took some silly photos:

Then it was back to the drawing board!  “Maybe I can ride it to them!”

And here’s the pile they made — awesome!

Then we left to do some more activities.  Matthew and Ethan joined the Kaiser Permanente group and enjoyed the obstacle race they had set up.

After the hula hoop, bean bags throw, and a few jumping jacks…  Matthew gave that giant soccer ball a big kick!  They were so excited to do this part!  Can’t you tell???

On our first attempt to leave, we ran into the mounted police.  They were giving out stickers and allowing children to pet the horses:

Ethan did this, but he was very cautious:

And they saw this giant Monopoly game board:

Ethan fell asleep… so we wandered a bit more… ate some yummy honey sticks:

and Kettle corn!

Made a few Halloween cards — this one is for Emma Kathlyn!

We called it quits at almost 4 PM… we arrived at 10:15 AM.  People, we spent the ENTIRE day there!
